Ottawa: The authorities have decided to set up special counters at BLS centers, Visa cebtres in Toronto and Brampton to expedite applications for entry visas on an emergency basis.

Special counters will be started from October 17, 2022 for accepting such applications. Therefore, applicants are advised in advance not to go directly to counselling for submission of such applications.

Visa applications in respect of the death of immediate family members (parents, grandparents and siblings only) can be submitted on Weekends from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and saturdays from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. at BLS centers.

Such applicants can reach out to the security personnel at BLS with the necessary documents to seek further guidance. Please also note that along with the necessary required documents, applicants will also have to submit the following documents

· Death certificates/medical documents confirming that the death occurred within the last 72 hours

2· Copy of photo ID of the deceased

3· Copy of proof of the deceased’s relationship with the applicant

Once the application is accepted and the fee has been deposited at the BLS, the applicant can bring his/her application to the consulate on weekends by 2:00 pm and by 12:00 pm on Saturday with proof of payment (along with air ticket if travelling on the same day) so that the visa can be issued on the same day.

The applicant can also choose to leave his/her application at the BLS Centre, in which case the visa will be issued on the next working day. In case of severe medical emergencies where a family member has been admitted to the hospital, the applicant will have to submit an application for emergency appointment with the Counsel on the Contact Portal on the Consulate’s website <https://www.cgitoronto.gov.in/sampark/enquiry.php?id=9> and also wait for the request to be accepted by the Consulate.

The applicants can then submit their application along with a copy of the contact clearance at the Special Counters of BLS based on the details mentioned above. In all such cases, the entry visa can be granted as a single entry for a maximum period of 90 days.
