Ottawa: Government of Canada led by Prime Minister Justin Trudeau today issued an apology to descendants and families of No. 2 Construction Battalion, which had served with distinction in the 1st World War but faced anti-Black racism.
“I’m offering an official apology to descendants of No. 2 Construction Battalion for the appalling way these patriots were treated, and for the anti-Black hate and systemic racism that denied them dignity in life and in death,” Trudeau said.
