Vancouver: CES 2026 kicked off officially , drawing visionaries, industry and government leaders, investors, and media to the global stage for technology.

Spanning more than 2.6M net square feet, CES 2026 is where breakthrough ideas come to life and where innovators show up to highlight what’s next in tech. As the world’s most powerful tech event, CES is the convergence of more than 4100 exhibitors showcasing innovation across accessibility, AI, digital health, energy, enterprise solutions, immersive entertainment, mobility, quantum, robotics, and more.

Siemens AG President and CEO, Roland Busch, unveiled technologies to accelerate the industrial AI revolution. NVIDIA founder and CEO Jensen Huang joined Busch on stage to expand their partnership to build the industrial AI operating system. Siemens launched Digital Twin Composer software to power the industrial metaverse at scale. Athina Kanioura, CEO, Latin America and Global Chief Strategy and Transformation Officer of PepsiCo discussed how PepsiCo uses the Digital Twin Composer software to simulate upgrades to its facilities in the U.S. with plans to scale globally.

Siemens highlighted new technologies for accelerating drug discovery, autonomous driving, and shop floor efficiency. In manufacturing, Siemens announced a collaboration to bring Industrial AI to Meta Ray-Ban AI Glasses.

Vancouver: LG Electronics will launch its latest home robotics LG CLOiD at CES 2026 (January 6-9) in Las Vegas, marking the company’s newest push into the fast-growing smart home and consumer robotics market.

LG CLOiD is built to perform a wide variety of tasks within the home. Its two articulated arms are powered by motors delivering seven degrees of freedom each, providing versatile motion similar to natural movements. Vancouver: Burnaby RCMP is asking for public assistance in identifying either of two suspect pickup trucks involved in the theft of a $100,000 Bobcat loader.

On  November 30, 2025, two pickup trucks, one hauling an empty flat deck trailer, arrived in the area of Midlawn Drive and Westlawn Drive in the Brentwood area of North Burnaby. A short time later, the same two pickup trucks left the area, this time with a stolen Bobcat loader, worth approximately $100,000, was on the flat deck trailer.

“This is more than an inconvenience to the owner. This is a hundred-thousand-dollar theft.” said Cpl. Mike Kalanj with the Burnaby RCMP. “If you recognize either of the suspect vehicles or have any knowledge of this incident, our investigators would like to hear from you.”

Suspect truck 1 is believed to be a Chevy Silverado, Black tonneau cover, distinct silver or grey gas door on the driver’s side while the lower part of the truck’s body was a lighter color and towing a flat deck trailer. Suspect truck 2 included Red pickup truck and is  believed to be a Ford Ranger.

Police are asking anyone,  that can identify either suspect vehicle or has any information that can assist their investigators, to  contact Burnaby RCMP.

Vancouver: At a time when  U.S. President Donald Trump has  launched his trade war against  Canada, Prime Minister Mark Carney appointed  Mark Wiseman as Canada’s ambassador to the U.S.

With a career spanning three decades in law, business, and finance,  Wiseman has deep experience with both countries’ economies, financial markets, and institutions. He has a strong track record of unlocking new opportunities for Canadians, including as President and Chief Executive Officer of the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board, as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Alberta Investment Management Corporation, and as a current member of the Prime Minister’s Council on Canada-U.S. Relations.

“Mark Wiseman brings immense experience, extensive contacts, and deep commitment at this crucial time of transformation of our relationship with the United States. Canada-U.S and Mexico Agreement (CUSMA) review is  likely  next year and  after  he becomes Ambassador,  Wiseman is expected to play a key contributor to the government’s efforts to advance Canada-U.S. priorities, including secure borders, a strengthened trade and investment relationship, and cooperation between Canada and the United States on global challenges.

The CUSMA came into force on July 1, 2020, for a 16-year term. It includes a commitment for all parties to jointly review the agreement starting on the sixth anniversary of its entry into force, on July 1, 2026. This first joint review will provide the opportunity to reaffirm CUSMA’s success, ensure it remains fit for purpose in a changing global landscape, and extend the agreement term for another 16 years, if all parties agree.

CUSMA has allowed more than 85% of Canada-U.S. trade to be tariff-free and moves more than $3.5 billion of goods and services across the Canada-U.S. border every day.

Vancouver: To provide uninterrupted care for expecting parents, the Fraser Health  authorities have placed diversion (8 a.m. Monday (Dec. 22) to 8 a.m. Thursday (Dec. 25) in place in of Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock.

While sharing details over its website, authorities informed they have created a website for expecting parents to check for updates as they collaborate with physicians in the Lower Mainland to address staffing gaps.

The festive season seems to have created shortage of obstetrician-gynecologists.

“Because of a temporary shortage of obstetrician-gynecologist physicians at Peace Arch hospital on select dates over the holiday season, people in labour,  who had planned to give birth at these hospitals,  may be guided to another maternity site to ensure they receive safe, uninterrupted care.”

In an emergency patients are advised to call 9-1-1.

“Patients who are registered to deliver their babies at Peace Arch Hospital ,  have been contacted by their care provider, so they know what to expect and feel fully supported. If they are in labor or have a pregnancy concern, patients are asked to first call the Maternity Unit, and they will be directed to the appropriate site for assessment.”

Authorities say they are working closely with  physician group to fill the gaps in coverage and are proactively sharing this update with the community to ensure our patients and their families have the information they need.

“We know this update may cause concern for our patients and families and apologize for any added stress this may bring as they prepare for their baby’s arrival. These steps are in place to support them in receiving timely, appropriate care.”
