Chandigarh: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has finalised its strategy for assembly elections in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh. AAP will launch the campaign from Rajasthan on Monday. AAP national convener Arvind Kejriwal and Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann will hold a show of strength in Jaipur.

On Tuesday, both the leaders will go to Madhya Pradesh and hold a meeting in Bhopal to assess the atmosphere of the state.

AAP’s main focus is on Rajasthan. The AAP is looking at areas adjoining Punjab as a “soft target”. It hopes to win seats in areas with Punjabi influence.

AAP’s core team has seen three scenarios in Rajasthan. First, how much will the Congress suffer in the battle between Ashok Gehlot and Sachin Pilot and what will be Gehlot’s stand at the time of elections? Secondly, whether the BJP will give a free hand to Vasundhara Raje or not. But, the AAP believes that Vasundhara’s show of strength in Salasar has strengthened her claim. AAP feels that if Vasundhara becomes strong, congress will suffer.

In that situation, AAP sees an opportunity to capture the shrinking ground of the Congress. AAP has also taken feedback from some administrative officials. This has shown that the officers are also upset with the internal fight of the Congress. In many places, there is a situation where the minister belongs to the Gehlot camp, the MLA belongs to the Pilot camp and the MP belongs to the BJP.

Third, AAP is looking for leaders who win elections on the symbol of any party with their own influence. There are many independent MLAs those have played a role in forming the government.

After the poor performance in the Gujarat elections and the recent case of Manish Sisodia’s arrest in Delhi, the party wants to send a message to its volunteers that it will continue to struggle and expand the scope in the 2024 general elections. The party also wants to take advantage of the perception that the AAP believes converts the Congress vote.

Washington: US Commerce Secretary Gina Raimondo said that China is clearly looking to gain access to US military technology for use in its military. “We need to protect ourselves and our allies, partners, from this happening,” she said.

Raimondo visited India on March 10 for the India-US Commercial Dialogue and the India-US CEO Forum meeting.

Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that Gina Raimondo’s four-day visit to India was very successful. India and the US on Friday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on semiconductor supply chain and innovation partnership during the India-USA Commercial Dialogue, commerce minister Piyush Goyal and US Commerce Secretary Gina M Raimondo said.

She said, “We see India as a reliable technology partner. We want to deepen our technical ties with India. In fact, we have recently launched ICET (Initiative on Critical and Emerging Technologies) for critical and emerging technology with India. We look forward to working more closely with India in the private sector here.”

New Delhi: Team India has made a new record in the fourth Test match being played between India and Australia in Ahmedabad.

In this match, Team India batted in their first innings and shared a partnership of 50 or more runs for all wickets, up to 6 wickets.

In this innings, Rohit Sharma and Shubman Gill added 74 runs for the first wicket.

New Delhi: The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways has made 58 services related to citizens like driving license, vehicle registration and transfer of ownership rights available online through Aadhaar authentication. Aadhaar authentication will be as per its discretion.

Making such services available contactlessly without going to government offices will save precious time of citizens and also reduce the compliance burden, the ministry said today.

The online services for which citizens can get Aadhaar authentication done as per their wish include learner’s license, issuance of second copy of driving license and renewal of driving license which does not require driving.

The ministry issued a notification in this regard on September 16. A person who does not have an Aadhaar number can avail the services by showing any other identity card.

New Delhi: The CBI had registered an FIR against 15 people, including Delhi Deputy CM Manish Sisodia, in the excise scam on August 17, two days before the raid.

The FIR also names some liquor companies. In the copy of the FIR, anon public servant and private person are mentioned at number 16. That is, the investigating agency can also add the names of some more people to the FIR.

The CBI has named the then Excise Commissioner Arava Gopi Krishna, the then Deputy Excise Commissioner Anand Kumar Tiwari, Assistant Excise Commissioner Pankaj Bhatnagar, nine businessmen and two companies in the FIR.

In the excise policy case of Delhi, CBI raids are going on at 21 places in 7 states including the residence of Deputy CM Manish Sisodia. The probe agency reached Sisodia’s house only at 8.30 am. Since then, searches have been going on at the government residence (A Wing Delhi Secretariat). The officers have seized the phones and laptops of him and the rest of the family members.

An IPSOS survey, conducted for Global News, puts the PCP ahead of all and in a commanding victory position. As per the survey, the PCP leader Doug Ford seems to be capturing 38 percent vote bank followed by the Liberal party leader 28 percent, NDP leader 23 percent and the Green Party leader 6 percent.

Several candidates of Punjabi background are also in the fray particularly from the ridings in Brampton where the Punjabi diasporic people reside in large number. The polling for the 124 ridings (constituency segments) will take place on June 2. In the last election PCP had formed the government by winning 76 seats and capturing 40.5 percent vote share.

The rise of labour party is not being seen as a good sign among those who are waiting in wings to migrate from the countries like India to settle in Australia. The labour party may make the criteria of settlement in Australia more stringent for migrant people. Although the outgoing liberal party led coalition government was also not very liberal in absorbing the migrants by providing permanent residence and citizenship rights.

Washington: The US human rights body has recommended to put four more countries, including India, on its Red List or Countries of Particular Concern (CPC) a month releasing its religious freedom rights rankings.

It has recommended to add India, Russia, Syria and Vietnam to the list. While, Pakistan, China and Myanmar are on the US State Department’s CPC list along with North Korea, Saudi Arabia, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Nigeria.

The MEA has frequently slammed the US Commission on International Religious Freedom (USCIRF), the body which has made the recommendations.

MEA spokespersons have said the USCIRF is biased and has a limited understanding of India and its Constitution.

Even the Secretary of State Mike Pompeo had declined the USCIRF’s recommendation to list India as a CPC last year and he had not even accepted USCIRF’s recommendation to put Uzbekistan on the Red List as the country is deemed strategically important for US foreign policy interests.

India is of far greater value in its economic and military heft.
