Chasing the target, India’s opening pair of Shikhar Dhawan and Shubman Gill batted brilliantly and scored 43 runs without losing a wicket in the Powerplay. After this, both scored runs at a fast pace against the bowlers of the host team.
Meanwhile, Dhawan completed his half-century in 76 balls and took India past 100 in the 20th over.
After this, Gill completed his half-century off 51 balls. As a result, India’s score reached 153 runs after 26 overs. The visitors still needed 37 runs in 24 overs to win. During this time, Zimbabwe’s bowlers were failing to stop both batsmen.
With this, Shikhar hit a four in 30.5 overs to give India a 10-wicket win. Shikhar remained unbeaten on 81 off 113 balls with the help of 9 fours and Gill remained unbeaten on 82 balls with the help of 10 fours and a six. India took a 1-0 lead in the three-match series.
