Child Benefit doubled in Canada, lifted hundreds of thousands of children out of poverty: PM Trudeau

Ottawa: Prime Minister Justin Trudeau said that his government has been focused on making life more affordable for people across the country.

He said that the government of Canada has increased the Canada Child Benefit two weeks ago today, and which leads to increase in monetary assistance every month to help Canadians to pay for whatever their kids need.

“We are also cutting child care fees in half by the end of the year, and we will keep working to make $10-a-day child care a reality in every corner of the country,” Trudeau said.

In a social media post today, Trudeau said that his government got a plan to make housing more affordable with the new Tax-Free First Home Savings Account. The government will increase housing supply by doubling the number of homes being built across Canada over the next ten years. The government will curb speculation, ban foreign ownership for two years, and crack down on other unfair practices.

For the senior citizens, who is 75 or older, the government has permanently boosted the Old Age Security pension by 10% last week. This means elders who were receiving the full benefit, will get more than $800 extra over the first year. Payments can be expected on August 29th, September 27th, October 27th, November 28th, and December 21st.

“We will continue to be there for you and your family as we tackle the rising cost of living, and we will keep working to make your life more affordable,” PM Trudeau said.
