Ottawa: China has today removed three years ban on the import of canola seeds for two Canadian companies that China Customs had suspended since March 2019.
Welcoming the decision, Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development asked China to immediately reinstate the two companies to allow them to export Canadian canola seeds,
He said that Canada government continue to work with Canadian canola farmers, businesses, exporters, and their communities to defend their interests.
Meanwhile, the canola industry contributed almost $27 billion and 250,000 jobs to Canada’s economy, however, in March 2019, China had suspended two Canadian companies, alleging the detection of quarantine pests in canola shipments.
