Chinese defence minister says maintaining good relationship between China and India meets interests of both countries

Singapore: Chinese Defence Minister General Wei Fange said yesterday that China and India are neighbours and maintaining good relations between them serves the interests of both the countries and the two countries are working together for peace along the Line of Actual Control.

Addressing the Shangri-La Dialogue here, Fange called for peaceful means to resolve territorial disputes, including the South China Sea. “China and India are neighbours and maintaining good relations serves the interests of both countries and that is the reason we are working on it.

Replying to a question on the conflict with India along the Line of Actual Control, he said, “We have had 15 rounds of talks with Indians at the commander level and we are working together to establish peace in the region. ”Also, the director of The India Project at the American think tank Brooking Institution, Dr. Tanvi was replying to a question from Madan.
