Chandigarh: Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s brother Manohar Singh has began door-to-door campaign, a day after announcing that he would contest the polls as an independent candidate from Bassi Pathana constituency.
Manohar, who is annoyed of not getting a Congress ticket despite being actively working for the segment for long, said that his brother Channi and many other Congress leaders had tried to convince him from going independent.
“Congress tried to compensate me but they know that I am a strong candidate and will. fight as independent candidate to serve the people of Bassi Pathana,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sitting MLA and Congress candidate Gurpreet Singh GP said that CM Channi should intervene and stop his brother from contesting as independent candidate against the Congress party.
