CM Charanjit Channi only postgraduate in new Punjab Cabinet

Chandigarh: In the newly formed Punjab cabinets, none of the ministers are post graduate degree holder and one minister is even under matric academic qualification.

According to the affidavits filed by the leaders while contesting the Assembly elections in 2017 reveals that out of total 18 ministers, one is under-Matric, three are matriculates, one has studied up to Class XII and one dropped out after BA-I. Similarly, ministers including Sangat Singh Gilzian, (studied up to Class IX), Amrinder Singh Raja Warring and Rana Gurjeet Singh (matriculates) and Raj Kumar Verka (dropped out after BA-I), are not even graduates.

Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi is the lone masters degree holder among all as he had completed his BA-LLB from Panjab University and MBA from Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar. Whereas, Manpreet Singh Badal had studied abroad as he did LLB (Hons) from London in 1987.

Among 11 old faces in the Cabinet, Razia Sultana is a matriculate and Deputy Chief Minister Om Parkash Soni has studied up to Class XII while two are not graduates.

Sukhbinder Singh Sarkaria a BSc (non-medical) and Vijay Inder Singla BE (computer science), Deputy CM Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa, Brahm Mohindra, Tript Rajinder Singh Bajwa, Aruna Chaudhary, Bharat Bhushan Ashu, Pargat Singh, Randeep Singh and Gurkirat Singh Kotli are graduates.
