New Delhi: Congress leaders and workers today staged a one-day Satyagraha in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statues to protest against the disqualification of former president Rahul Gandhi from the Lok Sabha membership.

According to the party, this ‘Sankalp Satyagraha’ is taking place in front of Mahatma Gandhi’s statues in all states and districts as a show of solidarity with Rahul Gandhi. It will run till 5 pm.

“My martyred father is insulted in Parliament. The martyr’s son is insulted and he is called Mir Jafar. My mother is insulted. Your Minister says who is his father? Your Prime Minister asks the Gandhi family why they don’t use the Nehru surname? There is no case against you, your membership is not cancelled, ” said Congress General Secretary Priyanka Gandhi.

Rahul Gandhi has changed the agenda, now the agenda of saving democracy is going on in the country. Rahul Gandhi had asked the Speaker for a chance to speak, but he was not given a chance and expelled from the House, there is anger among the people of the country over this conspiracy, said Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot.

Congress MP Shashi Tharoor said that this is not just about Congress or Rahul Gandhi, it is about democracy. Is it right for democracy that the main leader of the opposition cannot raise his voice in Parliament? There is talk of sending them to jail. It is only harming India, Rahul Gandhi has become stronger than before, the Congress party has become stronger. Opposition has united, but the loss is only of India.
