Congress to launch ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’, appeals Opposition, activists to join it

New Delhi: The Congress announced that party will launch its ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra’ from October 2, and the party has appealed to allied political parties and civil society groups to join the march.

An announcement in this regard was made by party general secretary Jairam Ramesh and senior leader Digvijay Singh after a meeting with the state Congress committee presidents.

The yatra will be taken out from Kanyakumari to Kashmir. Addressing a press conference here, Digvijaya Singh said that it was decided to start the yatra on October 2 during the party’s Chintan Shivir held in Udaipur but now the possibility of starting the yatra earlier is being explored.

Meanwhile, the Congress decided that it will take up inflation, unemployment, the new “Agneepath scheme” of recruitment in the Army and other issues related to the people in both the Houses during the monsoon session of Parliament.

The decision was taken at a meeting of the party’s Strategic Group on Parliamentary Affairs. The meeting was chaired by Congress president Sonia Gandhi.
