Ottawa: Ahead of Municipal Election 2022, the Conservative Party of Canada said that the 678,708 eligible party members in the final voters list to leadership campaigns will select the next party leader.
With gigantic membership, the Conservative Party has become the largest party in Canadian history.
The party said that most significant growth by share in membership has been witnessed in Quebec, Newfoundland and Labrador, British Columbia and New Brunswick.
In a statement released Friday, party spokesperson Yaroslav Baran, said that in order to be eligible to vote in the contest process, the process of joining the party began on June 3 and it had about 675,000 members in a preliminary review list, which was distributed to leadership campaigns on June 30.
Now, this represents the final list and is no longer subject to appeal.
“This massive surge in membership demonstrates the excitement generated by this leadership race, and the momentum for a change of government in Ottawa.” said Robert Batherson, President of the Conservative Party of Canada.
