Cop shot dead by robbers in Phagwara, govt announces Rs 2cr ex-gratia

Chandigarh: In Phagwara, a policeman Kuldeep Singh Bajwa was shot dead by robbers during an encounter on Sunday late night.

The Punjab government has announced that martyr constable Kuldeep Singh Bajwa will be given compensation for his supreme sacrifice on the line of duty.

In a tweet, Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann announced an ex-gratia of Rs 2 crore for the family of the martyred constable’s family.

The HDFC bank will pay insurance of Rs 2 crore to the family of the martyr. Chief Minister Mann has expressed grief over the sacrifice of the martyr.

“Constable Kuldeep Singh Bajwa has sacrificed his life in the line of duty and we stand with the martyrs and his family.”

It is worth mentioning that Kuldeep Bajwa was chasing the robbers who were fleeing after snatching a car, during which he was shot by the robbers.
