Chandigarh: A 54-year-old Covid-19 postive found dead at his house in Sector 43, here police said on Saturday.
His status of Covid positive came to light when doctors were going to conduct postmortem examination at GMSH-16.
As the body was tested positive, authorities declined to conduct the postmortem and police initiated the inquiry under Section 174 of the CrPC.
Police said that he was an alcoholic and when he did not respond, his wife called neighbours and police. Following this, a PCR rushed to the spot and took him to GMSH-16 where doctors declared him brought dead.
Meanwhile, doctors expressed the apprehension of the victim’s COVID-19 and after examination report came postive. As per the rules, the postmortem was not conducted, a hospital doctor said.
