New Delhi: The Union government on Thursday announced that they will initiate drive to administer the Covid-19 vaccine at home to people and those with restricted mobility across the country.

Health Ministry officials, while addressing the media here, state that country is still in the midst of another wave of COVID-19 even though the number of daily Covid cases are diminishing.

“A total of 62.73% infections cases reported last week were from Kerala alone, which is the only state with over 1 lakh active Covid cases while 33 districts in the country are now reporting over 10% weekly positive rate and 23 are recording between 5-10 per cent,” the officials said.

They also appealed people to avoid mass gathering during upcoming festival season especially in containment zones and in districts with over 5 per cent positivity rate, to contain virus spread.

“Over 66 per cent of the country’s adult population has been given at least one jab and 23 per cent are fully vaccinated. We have ramped up of the vaccination drive and soon differently-abled people and those with restricted mobility will get dose in their houses,” officials added.
