Cricketer Harbhajan Singh announces retirement; may contest polls from Jalandhar

Chandigarh: India’s one of the greatest spinner bowlers, Harbhajan Singh announced his retirement from all forms of competitive cricket on Friday.

Following his retirement, the speculation has heated up that cricketer is going to start a new innings in the politics.

The political circles are abuzz that he would join the Congress and likely to contest upcoming Vidhan Sabha elections from Nakodar in Jalandhar district.The news is doing the rounds ever since his recent meeting with PPCC chief Navjot Sidhu in Chandigarh.

The 41-year-old from Punjab took 417 wickets in 103 Tests, 269 wickets in 236 ODIs and 25 scalps in 28 T20Is in his illustrious career.
