Curfew imposed in Patiala after clash between Hindu-Sikh groups

Patiala: Deputy Commissioner Sakshi Sawhney has ordered to imposed night curfew from 7pm today in order to maintain law and order situation in the district after a clash between two communities today morning.

In her order, she said that curfew shall be imposed in the district from 7pm to 6am Saturday.

She also stressed for peace and harmony after a clash between Hindu groups and Sikh organisations repeatedly over burning of “Khalistan” effigy in Patiala today and said peace and harmony is central to all our religions and their basic ethos.

Issuing a statement, she said that even if there is any dispute or misunderstanding, it is important to resolve it by dialogue.

As such, the District Administration appeals to all brothers and sisters of Patiala and Punjab to continue to maintain peace and brotherhood.
