New Delhi: In the Women’s Premier League (WPL), Delhi capitals will take on UP Warriors today. The match will begin at 7:30 pm at the DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai.
Both teams won their respective first matches. While Delhi defeated Bengaluru by 60 runs, UP won by 3 wickets over Gujarat in a thrilling match.
WPL’s highest score in Delhi’s name
Delhi Capitals, captained by Meg Lanning, scored 223 runs in their opening match of the tournament. Against Royal Challengers Bangalore, the team’s openers Meg Lanning and Shafali Verma scored half-centuries while batting aggressively. Jemimah Rodriguez and Marion Kapp also played excellent innings.
In bowling, Tara Norris broke Bengaluru’s waist by taking 5 wickets and stopped them at a score of 163 runs in 20 overs.
While Bengaluru had registered a dominating win, UP defeated Gujarat by 3 wickets in a thrilling match. UP needed 53 runs from the last 18 balls, then Grace Harris and Sophie Eccleston batted till the end and gave the team victory with one ball remaining. Grace Harris scored an unbeaten 59 runs.
Kiran Navgire also scored a half-century from UP. At the same time, Deepti Sharma and Sophie Eccleston got 2-2 wickets in bowling.
