Kabul: Hundreds of Afghans carried out a rally in the support of resistance movement led by Ahmad Massoud and to oppose Taliban rule in the capital Kabul, here on Tuesday.
Video of the rally went viral on the social media in which the crowd could be seen chanting ‘death to Taliban’ and ‘long live Afghanistan’.
Earlier, the Taliban had announced that it had completely captured Panjshir province, the last stronghold of the anti-Taliban movement, the National Resistance Front (NRF). The NRF is working under the leadership of Ahmad Massoud, the son of the slain hero of the anti-Soviet resistance Ahmad Shah Massoud.
Following this, Massoud released an audio message and called for a “national uprising”.
He said, “We request other brothers and sisters, wherever you are and with whatever means you are capable, to rise up and resist against the imposition of a servile and subjugated future in Afghanistan.” Later, his supporters carried out a rally.
