Defending champions France trounce Australia 4-1

New Delhi: Defending champions France have started the FIFA World Cup 2022 with a bang. In their first match, the French team defeated Australia 4-1. For France, Oliver Giroud scored two goals and Mbappe and Rabiot scored one goal each.

There was an equal fight at the beginning of the match. Later, Australia made the lead on the French team. Craig Goodwin scored for Australia in the 9th minute. But after this, France made the match one-sided.

French midfielder Adrian Rebiot was the first to equalise in the 27th minute. Five minutes later, Oliver Giroud put France ahead in the match in the 32nd minute. At half-time, France’s team was on a 2-1 lead.

In the second half, France forward Kilian Mbappe scored in the 68th minute to make the lead 3-1. Exactly three minutes later, Oliver Giroud once again scored a goal by beating the Australian goalkeeper and gave his team a three-goal lead. The French team kept the ball for 56% of the time. This team made a total of 22 attacks on the Australian goalpost, out of which 7 were on target. In response, the Australian team could make only 4 attempts. Three yellow cards were also given to the French players.
