Chandigarh: Delhi witnessed a layer of fog this morning and the air quality inched close to the severe category.
One of the many reasons for this serious situation is also being attributed to the incidents of stubble burning in Punjab.
The Indian Agricultural Research Institute on Friday reported 2,067 incidents of stubble burning in Punjab, the highest so far this season.
The institute had registered 124 and 34 cases of stubble burning in Haryana and Uttar Pradesh respectively.
