New Delhi: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has lifted the 50 per cent slab ban on SpiceJet flights. Now from October 30 onwards, SpiceJet will operate the flights with 100 per cent capacity.
According to the winter schedule released by the DGCA, SpiceJet has been allowed to operate 3,193 flights every week. This is 6.6 percent more than 2021. This winter schedule will be effective from October 30, 2022 and will remain till March 25, 2023.
On September 21, the Civil Aviation Regulator (DGCA) extended the cap on operating capacity till October 29.
SpiceJet’s summer schedule was reduced by up to 50 per cent on July 27 after SpiceJet came under the dgca’s supervision due to several technical problems. Initially, it was implemented for 8 weeks. In the summer schedule, SpiceJet was operating a maximum of 2,096 flights every week. The DGCA had banned the flight in july review citing safety reasons.
Q400 aircraft makes emergency landing in Hyderabad
The DGCA had also started an investigation after the emergency landing of SpiceJet’s Q400 aircraft in Hyderabad. On October 12, smoke was seen rising in the flight’s cabin. Following the incident, the DGCA had asked Airline to send engine oil samples for testing after a gap of every 15 days. Earlier, engine oil samples were sent for testing at a gap of 30 days. At present, SpiceJet has 14 Q400 aircraft.
