New Delhi: Former India hockey captain Dilip Tirkey, a member of the 1998 Asian Games gold medal winning team, was today elected as the president of Hockey India.
Two others who had filed nominations for the post had withdrawn their nominations before the elections. Tirkey played 412 international matches in a career spanning more than 15 years as a defender.
The 44-year-old from Odisha represented India in 1996 Atlanta, 2000 Sydney and 2004 Athens.
