New Delhi: Congress MLA from Qadian, Fateh Singh Bajwa and former India cricketer Dinesh Mongia, on Tuesday joined the BJP, in the presence of Union minister Gajendra Singh Shekhawat here.
Another Congress MLA from Sri Hagobindpur, Balwinder Laddi, and a close associate of Fateh Bajwa, also joined the BJP.
Both were sitting MLAs and were likely to be denied party tickets.
A senior BJP leader said that many more Congress leaders are set to join the party in the coming days as they feared that they will be sidelined under the PCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu’s leadership.
There has been a rift within the party as last week, Rajya Sabha MP Partap Singh Bajwa addressed the people on Monday and stated that he had got a signal from the high command that he would be contesting from there and following this, citing MLA and his younger brother Fateh Jung Singh Bajwa hosted state Congress chief Navjot Singh Sidhu in his constituency.
