Chandigarh: Large parts of the country, including Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Uttar Pradesh, are experiencing severe rainfall deficiency in large parts of the country, including northwest India. As many as 18 districts in Punjab and 13 in Haryana are reeling under severe rainfall deficiency.
According to the Meteorological Department, 264 of the 717 districts in the country did not receive rain between January 1 and February 27.
The state-wise data available for the period between January 1, 2023 and February 27, 2023, on the met department’s website for 717 districts shows that 243 districts are reeling under severe rainfall deficiency and 100 shortages.
During this period, only 54 districts have received normal rainfall, 17 have received excess rainfall and 36 have received heavy rainfall.
