MONTREAL: The family of four, including an infant, who froze to death a few meters from the US border along a route used by migrants, hailed from India’s Gujarat.
As per the information, the family were resident of a village in Kalol tehsil of Gandhinagar district in Gujarat and were attempting to cross the US border illegally and another seven persons have been detained by US authorities after the incident.
They were likely froze to death in a blizzard officials said.as the temperature was minus 35 degrees Celsius (minus 31 degrees Fahrenheit), officials said.
Authorities have launched an investigation and preliminary investigation indicates that they were died due to exposure to the cold weather.
