FDA authorises first breath test for Covid virus

Washington: In a first device that can detect Covid virus in breath samples, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has issued an emergency use authorisation for it today.

According to the authorities, InspectIR Covid-19 Breathalyzer now can be used in doctor’s offices, hospitals and mobile testing sites for Covid-19 testing by breath samples.

With this, test result can be provided within three minutes and FDA said that test must be carried out under the supervision of a licensed health care provider.

According to the FDA authorities the testing device is 91.2 per cent accurate at identifying positive test samples.
