Patna: The engine of a SpiceJet flight from Patna to Delhi made an emergency landing at Patna airport after it caught fire on Saturday.
With the quick response by the pilot and the aircrew, all the passengers have been safely disembarked from the aircraft. The pick-up in the left engine of the SpiceJet aircraft 737-800, which was carrying 191 passengers and crew, caught fire minutes later due to a bird hitting it.
The fire was reported by the locals, after which it was safely disembarked at patna airport. According to the aviation regulator, the engine caught fire as a result of the bird’s collision, which was later switched off as per procedure. No one was reported injured in the incident.
Patna DM Chandrashekhar Singh, who rushed to the spot after getting information about the incident, said, “The district and airport authorities were informed about the fire in the aircraft by the locals. All passengers were evacuated safely. The reason for the plane’s emergency landing is a technical snag. The team of engineers is carrying out further analysis.” Here, the Passengers First Person account says that the pilots should keep assuring them but all this happened i.e. an emergency landing had to be made within 10 minutes.
