Chandigarh: Punjab Police is yet to arrest Amritpal Singh, the chief of Waris Punjab De and a Khalistan supporter. Today is the sixth day of the ongoing operation for Amritpal. A new picture of Amritpal has surfaced, in which he is seen carrying the bike on a cart.
During the investigation, police and intelligence agencies came to know that Amritpal was being funded from 158 foreign accounts. Of these, more than Rs 5 crore was sent from 28 accounts. These accounts are related to Majha and Malwa in Punjab.
The accounts in Amritsar, Tarn Taran, Batala, Gurdaspur, Jalandhar, Nawanshahr, Kapurthala and Phagwara have links with Amritpal.
Apart from the neighboring states of Punjab, an alert has also been issued for Amritpal in Uttarakhand. The churches are also being investigated.
Agencies’ focus point in foreign funding
1. Documents of accounts opened in the country will be examined.
2. When was the account opened, when was the first transaction done, when did the money come from abroad?
Which countries did the money come from? When the amount came, where did the transaction take place next?
4. In whose name the accounts were opened, was the same account operated or any member of Amritpal’s organization.
5. Properties of waris Punjab De and Members of Anandpur Khalsa Force will also be investigated.
