New Delhi: Former minister and senior Congress leader Rana Gurmit Singh Sodhi on Tuesday joined the BJP in New Delhi.
Earlier in the day, he quit the Congress party. Guru Har Sahai MLA, Sodhi, is a former minister and Capt Amarinder Singh loyalist.
“I cannot accept Punjab’s suffocation and helplessness! Congress party has put state’s security & communal harmony at stake. With deep agony, I put forth my resignation from all posts & primary membership of Congress party with immediate effect,” Sodhi wrote on his twitter handle.
He was a close aide of Capt, who had quit Congress party and announced an alliance with BJP to contest upcoming Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections.
