Former judge shoot dead in ‘targeted act’ against judicial system

Washington: A former Wisconsin judge was shot dead by an armed assailant who also shoot himself, police said.

The Wisconsin Justice Department said in a statement that 68-year-old John Romer, a former judge of the Junieu County Circuit Court, has been murdered. According to the department, Romer was murdered at his home in New Lisbon, Wisconsin.

The suspected accused, 56-year-old Douglas K. Uhde, also shot himself. When the police reached his house, he was found in the basement of the house and was hit by a bullet which he himself had hit.

He has been admitted to the hospital in a critical condition.
