Chandigarh: Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader Bikram Singh Majithia got a major relief from the High Court today. Bikram Singh Majithia, who is currently lodged in the Patiala jail, has been granted bail by the High Court in the drug case.
The Chief Justice of the High Court had earlier summoned Justice A.G. Singh to hear Majithia’s regular bail plea.
A bench of Justices A K Masih and Sandeep Moudgil was constituted. Of these, Justice Masih refused to heard. the case. Later, the matter was referred to a bench of Justice Rao and Justice Anoop Chitkara.
Justice Anup Chitkara, however, refused to hear the matter.
A bench of Justice Ramachandra Rao and Justice Sureshwar Thakur is now hearing it.
The case against Majithia was registered under NDPS Act by the Congress government led by Chief Minister Charanjit Channi just before the assembly elections last year.
