Chandigarh: Security has been beefed up of four former ministers and leaders who quit the Congress to join the BJP in Punjab. All these leaders have been given X category security on the approval of the Union Home Ministry.
These include former cabinet minister Balbir Singh Sidhu, Gurpreet Singh Kangar, former cabinet minister Jagdeep Singh and former MLA Amarjit Singh Tikka.
The decision to beef up security was taken by the Union Home Ministry on reports that these leaders were suspected to be attacked by the IB. According to the IB report, these leaders were expected to be attacked at any time. For this reason, the central government approved the recommendation of the agency to provide security to them.
Singer Babbu Mann’s security beefed up
Recently, there was a fear of danger to the life of Punjabi singer Babbu Mann. After this, the Punjab Police has strengthened security arrangements at his residence in Mohali. Apart from these, due to threat to the lives of many Hindu leaders in Punjab, their security has been increased by the Punjab Police.
