Chandigarh: Four robbers looted Rs 1 crore from the property dealer’s office on the Chandigarh-Ambala highway in broad daylight and escaped on Friday.
After the robbery there was a hue and cry from property dealer Harjit Nagpal on hearing the sound of which the three men who were planting fruits outside the office ran after the robbers.
The robbers carrying the cash opened fire, which hit 37-year-old Mohammad Sabar, a resident of Gulabgarh, who was chasing him. The robbers managed to flee form the spot.
The robbers fled in different directions on two motorcycles. One of the two robbers carrying the cash fired two rounds, while the other two robbers had snatched the motorcycle of a 24-year-old youth named Govinda and fled.
Sabar was referred to Mohali Civil Hospital as his condition was critical. Police have started a probe into the matter after receiving information.
Property dealer Harjit Nagpal said the robbers were acquaintances of him who had come to the office on the pretext of striking a property deal with him. DSP Gurbakhshish Singh said that various police teams have been formed to investigate the matter and nab accused.
