Toronto: After remaining stable over the past few weeks, gas prices rose by 10 cents at the GTA on Wednesday.

The increase took place overnight and now the gas prices in the GTA have reached 162.9 cents per liter.

Experts also say that these prices are likely to increase further on Thursday.

Gas prices are currently reported to be the highest in Southern Ontario since August.

Pertinently, in June, gas prices in the GTA had gone up by 214.9 cents per litre.

Still, gas prices in Southern Ontario are not higher than in Western Ontario. In Metro Vancouver, gas prices were recorded at $2.42 a liter this week.

The rise in these prices could still be further as a refinery in Washington has to be shut down for maintenance
