Ontario: Go Transit workers today have reached an agreement with Metrolinx, ending their four-day strike.

On this occasion, Metrolinx said that the bus service is likely to start on Saturday.

Go bus workers, including drivers and station attendants, were on strike since Monday. Due to this, while the bus service was disrupted, the daily lives of thousands of people travelling in buses were also greatly affected.

Negotiations for the contract were expected to begin on Friday but the Amalgamated Transit Union (ATU) accused the transit operator of delaying the talks. Then the talks started on Thursday itself.

Metrolinx spokeswoman Anne Marie Aikins said she was happy that our agreement with the union had been finalised.

On why the bus service did not start on Friday, Aikins said, “We have to get out staff back in. We wanted the buses back to our location safely and also wanted the service to run smoothly. We also wanted to ensure safety of everyone.”
