Hockey World Cup: Indian women’s hockey team draws 1-1 with China, Vandana Katariya scores goal

New Delhi:The Indian women’s hockey team, which failed to capitalise on the chances, played out a second consecutive draw in Pool B of the World Cup and the match against China at Amstelween on Tuesday was tied at 1-1. Earlier, India had also played out a 2-2 draw with England (India vs England). Now, in the last match, India will play New Zealand on Thursday.

China’s Zheng Jiali scored in the 26th minute against team India, which finished fourth at the Tokyo Olympics. The goal for India was scored by Vandana Katariya in the 45th minute when the ball hit her stick from Gurjit Kaur on a penalty corner.

In the first two quarters, India’s position in control of the ball was heavy and they also created many chances but could not convert into goals. On the other hand, the Chinese players made a dent in the Indian defence by hitting back.
