Chandigarh: A new controversy has erupted in Punjab during prime minister Narendra Modi’s visit in Punjab’s Jalandhar today. This time the matter over chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s chopper has not been allowed to take off amid security concern to PM.
CM Channi said that his chopper was denied permission to take off twice today due to flying restrictions imposed during the PM’s visit.
Channi’s helicopter was first stopped from flying to Chandigarh and then to Sujanpur. Channi wanted to go to Jalandhar where Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s rally was held. Channi was furious when the helicopter was stopped twice. He said he is the chief minister of the state and not a terrorist.
PM Modi also reacted on the controversy and said that when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat and the BJP had fielded him as the Prime Ministerial candidate, his helicopter was stopped on his way from Pathankot to Himachal for campaigning. At that time Congress’ Rahul Gandhi was on his way to Amritsar.
