Chandigarh: Former Congress president Sunil Jakhar clarified that he has not any attention to hurt Schedule Cast community sentiments and did never issue such comments against the community, media reports said.
Jakhar has been facing criticism over his controversial statement and issued this clarification before media after paying obeisance at Sant Ravidas Temple, Sirgovardhan in Varanasi.
He, however, said that if his words unintentionally hurt anyone’s religious sentiments then I apologise for that.
Jakhar, however, did not respond to the notice sent by the high command. The one week period of the notice elapsed early this week and now the Congress high command is planning to summon him to Delhi, a senior Congress leader said.
However Jakhar who is furious with the attitude of the party and is likely also leave the party in coming days, Congress leaders said.
