Chandigarh: Ahead of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha elections, Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi clarified his religious beliefs and said that he believes in Jesus Christ, the God of Christians.
“I was born in Sikhism and I am a Sikh. He has not adopted Christianity, but yes I have faith in it. I love the Lord Jesus Christ,” Channi said in an interview.
Meanwhile, BJP has condemned CM’ s statement and said that it is shameful and has been made with the objective of attracting a section of vote bank.

Converted Chrisitian population in Punjab incrsd from 3 lakh to 42 lakh in 5 yrs with temptation of fridges, ACs & mobile phones. If this doesnt perpetuate conversion & demeaning own faith, what else does?, ” BJP leader Manjinder Singh Sirsa said.
