Washington: A Korean student who stabbed his Indian-origin roommate to death has said he sincerely apologises for the murder of his friend but he was “blackmailed”, according to media reports.
Manish Chheda, 20, from Indiapolis, was found dead at Purdue University’s McCain Hall last Wednesday.
Ji Min “Jimmy” Shaw was doing a junior cyber security major. An international student from Korea was arrested in connection with the murder. 22-year-old Shaw produced Shukrawar in court for the first time. When asked the reason for the murder, he said he was blackmailed.
Asked if he has anything to say to the victim’s family, Shaw said, “I am very sorry. ”
“I love my family,” he said last week when Shaw was being taken to jail for the murder of Chheda. The deceased was a senior data science major who died several times after being hit by a sharp object.
Shaw called the police at around 12:45 pm to inform them that he had stabbed his roommate with a knife. ”
According to reports, Varun’s body was found on the first floor of The McCutcheon Hall on the western end of the campus.
