New Delhi: The first fleet of indigenously built Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) has been formally inducted into the Indian Air Force during a ceremony in Jodhpur, Rajasthan. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh and Air Chief Marshal V.R. Singh were also present on the occasion.
These Light Combat Helicopters (LCH) will further enhance the air force’s strength as it is capable of firing a variety of missiles and using weapons.
The LCH has been developed by the state-owned Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL) and is designed to be deployed especially in high altitude areas.
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh said in a tweet, “The induction of the new helicopter will enhance the combat capability of the Indian Air Force.” The 5.8-tonne and dual-engine helicopter has already been tested for the use of several weapons, the officials said.
