New Delhi: Congress president Sonia Gandhi admitted before the party’s working committee on Sunday that she kept shielding former Punjab Chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh despite a spree of complaints against him.
Sources said that Gandhi made these remarks during the meeting after AICC screening committee chairman for Punjab Ajay Maken said that Captain should have been expelled from the party much earlier than September last year, when he already damaged the party’s base ahead of the state assembly.
Maken was listing on the reasons behind Congress’s loss in the recently held Punjab elections.
Leaders also commented that party’s top brass leaders in state also pulled down Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi, first Dalit CM of Punjab, the asset Rahul Gandhi created for Punjab and India.
