New Delhi: The first season of the Women’s Premier League (WPL 2023) is being played in Mumbai. Three matches were played in the first two days and all three matches were fantastic.
Meanwhile, a new rule has started in domestic cricket from the WPL. The rule is that now players will be able to take reviews on no ball and wide ball. That is, from now on, any decision of the umpire can be challenged. In fact, in the inaugural match of the tournament played between Mumbai and Gujarat, Mumbai captain Harmanpreet Kaur was the first to use it. She challenged the umpire’s decision in the first match.
Rules will apply in IPL 2023
Explain that after WPL, this rule is being implemented in this season of IPL. “From IPL 2023, another rule will be added to the DRS system in which players will also be able to challenge wide and no wall and take reviews. To put it in simple language, if a ball came out of the batsman’s possession, but the umpire felt that the ball had touched the body part of the batter or the bat and did not give a wide, then the batter would be able to challenge this decision.
If the review is correct, then the review will be saved. Otherwise, team will lose its review. The same rule will apply to the bowling team as well. If they think that the umpire has given wide to a ball that was not really wide, then they can also review the decision.
