Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal joins BJP ahead of Jalandhar bypolls

Chandigarh: Political activities have intensified in Punjab ahead of the by-election for Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat.

The trend of leaders shifting to other parties continue. Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader and former MLA Inder Iqbal Singh Atwal, son of Deputy Speaker Lok Sabha Charanjit Singh Atwal, is scheduled to join the BJP at 12 noon on Sunday.

Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri will induct him into the BJP. He is likely to be fielded as candidate by the BJP for Jalandhar by-election.

Last week, former Congress MLA Sushil Rinku joined the Aam Aadmi Party, who has been given a ticket by the AAP from Jalandhar Lok Sabha seat.
