Chittagong: Spinners Kuldeep Yadav and Axar Patel starred with the bat as India thrashed Bangladesh by 188 runs in the first Test to take a 1-0 lead in the two-match series here today. Chasing a target of 513 runs, Bangladesh were bowled out for 324 in the first hour of play on the fifth and final day of the match.
Bangladesh started their second innings at 272 for six in the morning. Captain Shakib Al Hasan scored 84 runs to reduce the margin of defeat.
For India, Kuldeep Yadav took four wickets for 77 runs, while Akshar Patel took three wickets for 73 runs. Mohammed Siraj, Umesh Yadav and Ravichandran Ashwin took one wicket each. The second and final Test between the two teams will be played in Mirpur from December 22.
