Indian-American student gets assaulted at middle school cafeteria in Texas

New Delhi: An Indian-American student was attacked by a White student at Kopel Middle School in Texas and “strangled for more than four minutes” in the viral video of the incident.

In the video, a white student comes across an Indian-American student, sitting on a bench and asked him to stand up. When the student refused to give up his seat, the white student gets angry and started strangulating him.

He pressed the Indian student’s neck from behind with his elbow before strangling the student and pushing him behind his seat.

The North American Association of Indian Students said condemned the incident and wrote on its Twitter, “Disturbing footage of Shaan Pritmani, a middle school student, being assaulted and choked for over four minutes by a white student. The incident took place in a suburb of Dallas, Coppell Middle School. Shaan received three days of suspension while the assaulter received one day.”

In another tweet while sharing footage of the incident wrote, “Here is partial footage of the incident. The incident raises concerns about the safety and well being of Indians in schools in the United States as well as the lack of proper support from school administration for situations like these.”
