Indian-origin Republican leader Nikki Haley hints at US Presidential run

Washington: Indian-American Republican leader Nikki Haley has hinted at contesting the presidential election.

In an interview on Thursday, former South Carolina Governor and US Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley said she feels she can be a “new leader” that will take the country in a new direction and that it is not possible for Joe Biden to get a second term as president of the United States. She is preparing to contest a possible presidential election.

“I’m not going to make any announcement here,” Nikki Haley, 51, said in response to a question. However, she gave indications in gestures that she could be the new leader of America.

Haley further said that she did a great job as governor and ambassador. As governor, she accepted the challenge of the state struggling with unemployment and made it the best state.

Who is Nikki Haley?

Nikki Haley, Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) and former Governor of South Carolina, was born on January 20, 1972, in an immigrant Punjabi family of America. Her initial name was Nimrata Nikki Randhawa. She later converted to Christianity and married an American man named Michael Haley, who is a captain in the Army National Guard.
