Indian-origin student shot dead, another critical during armed robbery in US

New Delhi: A student from Andhra Pradesh was killed and another student from Telangana was injured in a shootout by robbers in the US. According to the information reached the families of the students, the incident took place on Sunday in Chicago’s Princeton Park.

Nandapu Devansh (23) of Vijayawada in Andhra Pradesh was killed, while Koppala Sai Charan of Hyderabad was injured.

Laxman Wal-Wal, another student from Visakhapatnam, escaped unhurt. The three students from Telangana and Andhra Pradesh had gone to the US just 10 days ago after enrolling at the Governor’s State University in Chicago.

They had taken a rented accommodation in Chicago and were living together. On Sunday evening, the trio had set out to buy routers for internet connection when they were on their way to the shopping mall when two armed robbers surrounded them.

They asked the students to give them their mobile phones and took the PIN to unlock the phone. The robbers also looted money from the students. While fleeing, they opened fire.
